Hopefully you’ve done the basic research to protect your belongings while you’re moving them, but what about protection for your walls, doors, floors, etc.? There are items available online or at box supply and hardware stores to help prevent damages to your home on moving day.

There is a product called Carpet Shield that you can use to protect your carpet on the day you move. Most people use it in the new home they’re relocating to. When considering a move with your family, one of the most important aspects to consider is the school district. For those with small children, you will be particularly interested in the area’s elementary schools.

The Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor Elementary School opened in 1995. It was a replacement for the school that had been there since the incorporation of the town of Bay Harbor Islands.

Ruth was the wife of Shepard Broad who was the original financier of the Islands. They moved to the island in 1940 and began building the islands out of swampland. Shepard decided to name the school after his wife because she was a big proponent of education and children. The Broad children, Morris and Ann, are very active within the school that holds their mother’s name. This is the only elementary school located on the island of Bay Harbor. It is a primary school with grades from preschool to sixth grade.
